My favourite vegan cafes in Kuala Lumpur

My journey to being vegan started 2 years ago and had its ups and downs during this time. Unfortunately, I wasn’t consistent during these past years. There were various reasons – health, personal well-being, not enough vegan options, and simply me not learning deep enough on being and adopting vegan lifestyle. However, there were many great discoveries during this time and today, I’m excited to share my favourite vegan cafes in Kuala Lumpur.

 Sala

Sala stole my heart one day with their vegan burritos. They have so many healthy ingredients, you can always customise your burritos and they are super big. You will be full for a long time after. Price for 1 burrito is 24 MYR.

Sala Vegan Burrito – one of the best lunches you can have in Kuala Lumpur!

In Spanish, Sala means “living-room” and is also an acronym for slavar a los animales (save the animals). Here you will find meals cooked, using only plant-based ingredients which means that they are lower in calories and cholesterol while being higher in clean protein. They have other dishes like chimichanga (similar to burrito, but fried and with different kinds of vegan sauces), local nasi lemak (his vegan brother), variety of healthy drinks, like kombucha and coffee which you can drink with soya milk. And of course, vegan desserts. Address: A-G-03A Galeria Hartamas, No 21, Jalan 26a/70a, Desa Sri Hartamas, KL. More: https://salakl.com/.

Nature’s Vegetarian Restaurant

This restaurant conquered my heart with the Chinese cuisine, magically transformed into fully vegan. Imagine your favourite dim sum for breakfast, fully cooked with love for planet and animals. Yum! It’s always so yummy, that I forget to take pictures! 🙂 Price for a set, of 5 dishes (for dim sum), per person, is around 30 MYR. Address: 24, Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar, KL.

Real Food Mont Kiara

This place is totally meat free, organic and for their dishes they use organic products. I tried their vegan beetroot burger, and it was delicious!

Beetroot Burger – yum!

My friends tried their simple deep fried noodles with vegetables, vegan pumpkin pancakes and a couple of raw deserts. Highly recommended. The restaurant is a bit on a higher end – a good dinner with desert will cost you around 50 MYR. Address: G-11, 1 Mont Kiara, No.1, Jalan Kiara, Mont kiara, KL.
